The Hidden Cost of Using a Ghost Consultant for Your Immigration Application

A few days ago, I was approached by an applicant who believed their immigration application had been submitted more than six months ago.

They had hired a representative, paid the fees, provided all the required documents, and then waited.

And waited.

When they tried to follow up, their calls were no longer answered. Emails went unanswered, and eventually they could no longer reach the person they had trusted with their immigration application.

The applicant came to me hoping for an update on their case.

Unfortunately, there was a serious problem.

They had no application number.

No copies of the documents that were supposedly submitted.

No proof of payment to IRCC.

No confirmation that an application had ever been filed.

The only information they had was their UCI number.

At that point, many important questions remained unanswered:

• Was an application ever submitted?

• If it was, what type of application was filed?

• Were all the required documents included?

• Were there mistakes or omissions that could affect the outcome?

The truth is, we simply didn't know.

This is one of the greatest risks of working with unauthorized "ghost consultants."

Many people are attracted by lower fees or promises of faster results, without realizing the risks involved. When something goes wrong, there may be no records, no accountability, and no way to determine what was done on their behalf.

An immigration application is often one of the most important investments you will make in your future. Before hiring anyone, take a few minutes to verify that they are authorized and properly licensed to represent you.

A licensed immigration representative should always provide you with copies of your application, supporting documents, IRCC receipts, correspondence, and confirmation of submission. You should never be left wondering whether your application was even filed.

Unfortunately, situations like this are more common than many people realize.

Protect yourself before it's too late. Verify your representative, ask questions, and keep copies of everything submitted in your name. Your future is too important to leave to chance.
